About
Komorebi is a personal archive of photographs created by Tallis Liu, a visual storyteller based in Paris.
Finding solace in photography and believing in the process and power of still images to transcend the limitations of the self, Tallis creates through her experiences living in various parts of the world and her background in social science - she remains curious and continually broadens her horizons through immersion in diverse cultures and social strata. This ongoing journey deepens her understanding of the intricate tapestry of human existence, enabling her to approach the interconnectedness of time, space, emotions and alternate realities with sensitivity through her lens.
The archive’s name, Komorebi, pays homage to the original photo series "Komorebi Dreams" by Donata Wenders, featured in Wim Wenders’s 2023 film "Perfect Days". Komorebi (木漏れ日) is a Japanese word which portrays the delicate interplay of light and shadow created by leaves swaying in the wind - a fleeting experience unique to that moment. It is meditative, inclusive, and ultimately human.
